Alpha Sigma Gamma
Membership Criteria
(Revised September 20, 2006)
There are three basic categories of membership for Alpha Sigma Gamma: Student, Faculty, and Honorary. Membership criteria for each category are as follows:
Student membership criteria
Undergraduate Student Members
In order to qualify for
membership undergraduate students must:
1. Have completed a minimum seventy-five percent (75%) of the total credit hours required for a bachelor’s degree (senior level status).
2. Have completed the equivalent of a minimum six (6) semester hours of real estate and/or real estate related courses.
3. Have a grade point average of 3.75 or better on a four-point scale for all real estate and related courses or the equivalent.
4. Have a grade point average of 3.25 or better on a four-point scale for all college level courses undertaken.
5. Have good academic standing at the institution.
Graduate Student Members - Master’s Level
In order to qualify for membership master’s level students must:
1. Have completed a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of the total credit hours required for the Master’s degree.
2. Have completed the equivalent of a minimum of six (6) semester hours in real estate and related courses or the equivalent.
3. Have a grade point average of 3.75 or better on a four-point scale for graduate real estate and related coursework.
4. Have a grade point average of 3.50 or better on a four-point scale for all graduate course work in the student’s Master’s program.
5. Have good academic standing at the institution.
Graduate Student Members - Doctoral Level
In order to qualify for membership doctoral students must:
1. Have made substantial progress in the required work for the doctoral degree.
2. Have completed a minimum of nine (9) semester hours of real estate and related course work or the equivalent.
3. Have a grade point average of 3.75 or better on a four-point scale on for graduate real estate and related coursework.
4. Have demonstrated the ability to successfully complete a doctoral degree program.
5. Have good academic standing at the institution.
Faculty Membership Requirements
Faculty members must have exhibited superior teaching ability in real estate or real estate related courses; have a strong previous research agenda in academic real estate journals and real estate topics and have a an outstanding record of service in academic and professional activities. Faculty must be affiliated with a university with an Alpha Sigma Gamma chapter or be recommended by a current faculty member.
Honorary Membership Requirements
Honorary members must have exhibited an outstanding commitment to real estate education and/or to real estate students and be a recognized leader in their chosen real estate profession. All Honorary members must be recommended by an Alpha Sigma Gamma Chapter President.
